Diary

I cannot use the habit of writing every single day in order to mantain my language skills. albit, sometimes there is no topic to to write about. One has to train this ability as one of the most important output activities.
I wish I could recall(remaind, remember). each(every) event of my daily life. but I´m just able to write on only a few ones.

Eu quero ágora assistir todos os  , porque faz tempo que eu assisti esta novela, más nao pude assistir algums capítulos naquella epoca.

I don't know why, but it's difficult to try to wreit on any subject at random. This is a matter of getting acostumed to do it. You have to develop the habit. In my case it has been pretty hard to begin.
I consider it could be very beneficial writing at least a few sentences per day.

Language Interchange

My experience in a language interchange in the interactive library of Baños, ecuador.

This is what I had been looking for. Because I hadn't a place where I could practice my target language. In this case English. Now, I find pretty enriching this workshop, where the English speaking people speak Spanish and viceversa. That's what I was seeking.

Credentials

I have watched a couple o videos recorded by Mr. Steve Kaufman, the canadian Linguist, at his youtube channel on the subject of language learning. In this case about the criticism of some lin guists that consider that Mr. Kaufman hasn't the credentials to speak about language learning. In response to that Kaufman defends his approach by saying that the experience is much more imortant than the amount of statements of scholars on the subject of language learning.
Mr. Kaufman desagree with the theory of Chomsky about the universal grammar. As often happen with the majority of (most of) theories, the Chomsky's universal grammar theory cannot be supported by the experience. Sometimes, scientists complicates the understanding of a social and cultural phenomena, such as the human language. I'm completely persuaded and convinced thanks to my own experience, that Kaufman is right.

Spanish Workshop

  1. No Grammar. You have to discover (turn up) the rules. This is a heuristic approach.
  2. I am gonna speak crystal clear and slowly in order you can understand pretty well.
  3. Look at my gestures (body language) and the movement of my leaps.
  4. Don't try to translate into your mother language. The meaning comes from the context.
  5. At the beginning, your mother tongue is your worst enemy. You are not gonna find up in your mother language, what you need to speak spanish.
  6. Catch the general ideas, you don't need understand  100 % of the speech. Focus on the chunks of meaning or as I prefer to say: quantums of meaning.
  7. Language is not about performance. Language do is about communication.
  8. Making a lot of mistakes is not forbidden. You are going learn through your own errors. This is a trial and error process. Laughing about this ones is good.
  9. Try to expand your vocabulary as much as you can. Reading and listening is the best way to garner lots of words and expressions.
  10. Use the MP3 version of the videos to listen on and on. Repetition is the key.
  11. Read the PDF files to understand the confusing words.
  12. Listen in a passive and active way(manner). When you listen passively you are getting familiar with the sounds of the language and picking some words up. Besides you are learning unconsciously. When you listen actively you have to concentrate on meaning. Instead og concentrating on grammar structures.

How to drop a line?

How to write something about my language learning process. How to organize all my ideas about it. I even have thought to write a book on the subject of language learning. Starting by asking some crucial(important) questions such as:

Why normally the people that want to learn a foreign language have to face(to deal with) a lot of difficulties to reach(to achieve)  all their goals of apprenticeship ?. it seems to be that all of those issues have to do with  a method that doesn't work . Indeed, this issue involves all the educational system. As a result, of all this stuff, we could ask  as follows:
Why the educational system doesn't teach what It should teach? Why this one cannot guarantee the apprenticeship?

How to write in English ? About what?

At this moment I am thinking about(of) target language apprenticeship process. I am trying to un derstand what's the most important  aspect of the language learning process. I have been thinking about(of) the Stephen Krashen's theory on language acquisition. Especially about (on) his prior (principal) hypothesis: "One acquire a language when is capable of understanding messages. And this one is the only way". I totally agree with him on that statement , because is compatible with my own experience. After a period of three years of listening activities. I can understand messages , for instance, those that are conveyed through the videos of Steve Kaufman and Krashen. In spite my grammar is still  not good. (even though my grammar is  still not good)

Language Learning is not about performance is about Communication

Steve Kaufman

I am completely convinced that when one acquire the competence of listening , at least understanding the general ideas (general meaning) of the message. One already can take advantage  of this ability. One can take classes of English in English. Watching video-conferences, webinars, listening podcasts, and so on(so forth). his fundamental skill gives me a key feedback in order to improve my level of comprehension.

Tomorrow I have to go to Ambato City to apply for my Mercosur visa. I have already filled the form, but I have some doubts about the size of the photo.
